ABOUT HYA

HOLLINGS YOUTH ASSOCIATION is a non-profit organisation, working in the Manningham area of Bradford since March 2009, with the goal of supporting and developing young people through social interaction and offering a diverse set of activities

Since its founding, HYA has been facilitating personal, social and educational growth of young people in the Manningham area of Bradford, helping them reach their full potential in the society through social interaction. H.Y.A supports & helps young people to become confident and practicing members of the community.

HYA provides a variety of activities to help young people build their social and emotional well-being. We provide a working environment that promotes equality and mutual respect. With our skills and experience of the local community, we plan to revitalise the Manningham neighbourhood of Bradford by bringing new ideas and activities to life.

We believe that with the right support and assistance, the young people with whom we work will develop a more positive outlook on life and work hard to achieve their personal goals. We work hard to change the lifestyles of young people who have been influenced by society’s wrongdoings. It is our responsibility to assist and educate young people on issues such as healthy living and relationships.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to help and support the youth of Manningham on their journey to maturity by providing a safe and encouraging environment where they can learn to be independent and feel empowered to make positive change for their futures.

AIM & OBJECTIVES

The youth organisation is to facilitate and support young people growth through dependence to independence, by encouraging their personal and social development and enabling them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society. The Organisation objectives are:
To act as a resource for young people up to the age of 30 living in Manningham ,Bradford & surrounding areas by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of:
(a) advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals;
(b) Advancing education;
(c) Relieving unemployment;
(d) providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people living in the area of benefit who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons.

Outcomes:

• Encouragement to acknowledge their personal and social responsibility.
• Gain of sufficient knowledge to enable them to make informed decisions concerning their involvement in criminal behaviour. The ability to self-evaluate their actions and take responsibility for them
• Increased population of young people who participate in well-being activities
• Increased self-confidence and self-awareness to enable positive decision making and form constructive relationships.
• Improved communication skills and interaction with others
• Hollings Youth Association will see an increased participation of young people involvement in tackling identified issues in the area
